Trauma
Trauma comes in many forms and affects each person differently. What may be traumatic for one person, might not affect someone else in the same way. Whether someone experiences one, significant traumatic event, or "1,000 small paper cuts" over time, the things that happen to us can greatly affect how we act and how we see the world.

If a person has a physical wound, it's essential that you care for it, otherwise you run the risk of infection or further damage. The same rationale goes for our emotional wounds. Let therapy be the place you "clean" and heal from your pain. Just like infections, trauma can cause problems in other areas of life. Unlike physical injuries, it's never too late for recovery.
